Occasionally, it is necessary to close schools due to a snowstorm or other emergency. The policy of the WhitefishBaySchool District is to close schools when the weather conditions present a serious threat to the health and safety of the children and staff.
In the event of an emergency during the school day requiring evacuation of the school, students will be relocated to Holy Family School or to the Whitefish Bay High School field house. Parents/Guardians will be notified via an automatic phone call system.
When a storm occurs during the night and the Whitefish Bay Schools are to be closed, a repeated announcement will be made over the local radio stations: WINS (1130 AM), WOKY (902 AM), WTMJ (620 AM), WEMP (1250 AM), MIL (106.1 FM), WMYX (99.1 FM), and WKLH (96.5 FM).
If the weather conditions present a serious threat to the health and safety of children at dismissal time (i.e. tornado warnings), students will be kept inside the school until either the threat of danger has passed or a parent or other responsible adult has arrived at school to safely escort the child home.
