The Mallard Monetary System

In order to encourage you to “keep your ducks in a row,” this class has been placed on the Mallard Monetary System.  Therefore, you will be rewarded in “duck bills” and penalized in like manner.  Here is an example of the basic formula.  We will work out and discuss all the details in class.  The head of your flock hopes you find this an egg-citing concept.

1. You will receive a salary of 500 D.B.’s for completing your work each week. (Pay Day)
2. Each assignment that is not completed on time will result in a deduction of 20 D.B.’s from your salary. (No “ducking” your responsibilities.)
3. You must pay a rental fee of 200 D.B.’s weekly for classroom space and materials. (rent or mortgage)
4. You must safeguard your D.B.’s, as they can’t be replaced if lost or stolen.
5. Counterfeiting is illegal.  D.B.’s that are altered in any way will be considered void.
6. Buying and selling within the class using D.B.’s is not allowed.  7. Bankers will be chosen each week to keep records.
8. Various classroom opportunities will be offered to provide additional opportunities for spending your D.B.’s or to simply “feather your nest.” We will have an auction with many cool things to bid on in class.  Keep your ducks in a row!
9. The landlady (that’s me) may fine you for various amounts of D.B.’s for infractions of the rules of the house, for example: excessive quacking.  These rules are posted in the room near our door.
10. Reports of an unfavorable nature by persons in authority outside of the immediate premises (our classroom) will also result in a fine or de-duck-tion of your assets.
11. Opportunities will be offered periodically to earn D.B. bonuses.
