NOTES FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Please send your positive thoughts and prayers to the Farnsworth family as we have recently learned that Geoff, our sixth grade teacher, was diagnosed with colon cancer. Geoff will be undergoing surgery this Friday and will then be in recovery for the next few weeks. If you know Geoff, it will come as no surprise he thought he could be back in the classroom by Monday. We are confident with his strength and the community’s positive thoughts and prayers Geoff will be back in his classroom in the future. The middle school staff is organizing help for the family during this time. We will keep you posted on how you can help. This is a good time to remember to keep the important things in life in perspective.
Last week we had an incident at the Middle School that we wish to make you aware. We allegedly had a small amount of marijuana make its way in to our building. Once school officials learned of this situation we acted swiftly to assure a safe learning environment. This unfortunate incident serves as a wonderful opportunity to discuss with your child about the importance of keeping our school safe by alerting school officials when anything is brought into our school that is clearly unacceptable and in violation of school district policies. Additionally, it is also a good opportunity to revisit the dangers of alcohol and drugs with your child that would include severe school consequences as well as health related issues.
Construction season has begun and with that, please drive very carefully around our schools. Often times our students are not as attentive as we like and with the increase in traffic and frustrated drivers we want to ensure our students are safe. Leave a few minutes earlier, encourage your student to bike or walk and drive slowly.
