NOTES FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Concerns from Middle School Administration
We held our first dance Friday October 24th. Student Council did a fantastic job in trying to make this a fun costume party type event. The event did not have enough chaperones . Some issues that surfaced due to the lack of supervision were three non WFBMS students entered our dance at a location other than the front door. We are extremely disappointed that a student or a few students attempted to take advantage of this situation. Thankfully the three students were quickly removed from the dance. An additional concern is the type of dancing that was occurring. The staff was not comfortable with the bumping and grinding type dancing and being short handed made it difficult to break students apart when this was happening. We will be creating a list of dance protocols for future dances. One of those protocols will be the need to have at least 15 parent chaperones. Another will address the type of dancing we expect from our school sponsored dances. Once dance protocols have been established we will send them home to our parents. Thanks for your support in helping us to provide a safe environment for our young people to have fun.
The colder weather is coming and that means your child needs to bring the appropriate clothing for going outside during lunch. Our students will go out during lunch unless the temperature falls into the single digits.
It was recently brought to the Administration's attention that a student had created a list that was, unfortunately, inappropriately titled. The list contained the names of seven classmates, many of whom were friends of the student and were aware of this list over a period of time. An immediate and thorough investigation into the matter found that no threat to cause harm or to jeopardize the safety of any student was intended. Please know that should we ever discover any information that leads us to believe our school safety is in jeopardy parents will be notified.
On a more positive note, we have great kids at this school. The PB&J effort was outstanding. Our student council's costume party was very cool. It was great to see so many kids dress up and have fun!
