Physical Education

Mission Statement
Physical Education will allow each student to improve his or her level of fitness and enable each student to acquire a broad range of knowledge and skills to pursue and enjoy a lifetime of healthful activities.

Middle School PE Overview
The Middle School Physical Education program acts as a bridge to help students make the transition from an elementary school pre-adolescent to a high school young adult. We take the basic movement patterns and skills learned at the elementary level and progress towards more complex movement patterns through repetition and sequencing of drills and game play.

A portion of each class is dedicated to personal fitness, and students are tested each year for improvement in fitness using the Presidential Physical Fitness Program.

Technology is used in the PE classroom through Heart Rate Monitors, Pedometers, and computer mapping and fitness programs.

At the end of the Middle School Physical Education program students have a base of knowledge in a variety of activities, including team sports as well as lifetime fitness options, which allow the students to make personal choices in activities they wish to pursue.
