Dress Code
Students are expected to dress in clothing that does not interfere with school activities and in a manner conducive to learning, health and safety.   If a student's clothing is interfering with school activities, he/she will be sent to the clinic for alternative clothing or parents will be contacted to bring alternative clothing. Please note the following:
  • Students are expected to wear shoes at all times - ill-fitting shoes, untied shoes, and open-backed shoes are dangerous because of the high activity level of the students.
  • Athletic shoes (please avoid black soles) and non-restrictive clothing are required for physical education classes.
  • Shoes with built-in rollerskates or rollerblades should not be worn at school.
  • No hats or scarves are allowed to be worn inside the building/classroom.
  • Clothing with disruptive or suggestive messages will necessitate a call to parents to bring a more appropriate selection for the child to wear.
  • Pants should not be low-riding and students' tops should cover their midriffs.

For your child's health and safety, please help him/her dress appropriately for winter weather conditions. During the noon recess period, students may be playing outside for up to 30 minutes. Students not dressed appropriately may suffer from frostbite.

Administrative determination of inclement weather conditions is based on temperature, wind chill and precipitation. Signs will be posted at the entry ways to inform students that they may enter the lobby areas to wait prior to the start of the school day. Inclement recess will be announced as needed.
