Students in grades one through four have seven recess periods each week (during any half-day on which they do not have a physical education class). Students in grade five have two recess periods each week but have longer physical education class periods. Each recess period lasts fifteen minutes and there are usually several classes outside during each recess. Teachers/paras supervise all recess periods. Students in grades one through five also spend twenty-five minutes outside during lunch hour. For your child's health and safety, please help him/her dress appropriately for recess during the winter months. Except for inclement weather, students are expected to be outside during recess periods.
