Fifth Grade General Music is designed to launch each student forward to Middle School where they will continue to choose from a wide variety of options offered by the district. The Fifth Grade student comes to music class for one 50 minute session per week and one 25 minute Fifth Grade Choir class. All students are involved in both music class and choir. The 50 minute class time is designed to give students an opportunity to explore and create using the tools that they have gathered in their first six years at Richards.
The Fifth Grade performs at the annual "Festival of Lights" and the "Spring Sing". They also perform their first evening concert in mid-March. Opportunities to work on solos and ensembles present themselves during the year and are performed both inside and outside of the school day.
