Holidays

Instruction at Richards School may recognize and explain, but not celebrate religious holidays. Teaching about holidays must be objective and avoid any indoctrination. Religious exhibits, displays or symbols are appropriate in the school only as an integral part of the study of a subject and should not be used for decorative purposes. The Festival of Lights Project in December enables students in each grade to focus on a different holiday that celebrates light at the darkest time of the year.
