Fun Lunch - Friday, February 16
Fun Lunch tomorrow is being catered by CPK. Each participating student will receive a pizza, mac n cheese, or a salad in addition to carrots, apple sauce, a Rice Krispie Treat or Oreos, and bottled water.
Don’t forget, CPK is continuing to generously offer a free meal to Richards students when they dine-in with their family! Students who participate in the Fun Lunch program will receive a free kid’s meal when THEIR family is dining. A raffle ticket will be given to each dining student for a chance to win an embroidered chef coat! Raffle tickets will be randomly selected and chef coats will be presented at Fun Lunch. Students that wear their chef coat to CPK will be allowed to make their own pizza! Please note: Only students dining with their families will be discounted and an adult entrée must be purchased for every kid’s meal. This offer is not valid with any other offers or discounts, and is not valid to groups or sports teams.
February 9th Fun Lunch Rescheduled - New Date Wednesday, February 28
Cousins kindly worked with us to reschedule Fun Lunch since school was canceled last Friday. We have rescheduled it for Wednesday, Feb 28. If you were participating in Fun Lunch on Friday, Feb 9 plan on being part of the new date.

Yearbook Artwork
Show us how you think Richards Rocks and your artwork could be featured on the cover of this year’s yearbook! All Richards students are invited to submit a piece of original artwork to be considered for this year’s cover. Depending on the number of submissions, more than one piece may be chosen.
- Artwork should represent the theme Richards Rocks!
- Any type of media will be considered (drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, etc)
- Please submit entries to the Richards main office by Friday, March 2nd. The winner(s) will be notified by March 9th.

Last Call to Order 2017-2018 Yearbooks!
Did you forget to order a yearbook at registration? Now is your chance, visit the PTO website to order. Don't remember if you ordered one? You can also check this on the PTO website. The list is in order by teacher. If you think you ordered one but don't see your child's name on the list, make sure you're looking for your youngest child. Lego Club - 4th and 5th Grade, You're Up Next!
The registration deadline for 4th and 5th grade Lego Club is February 28, 2018. The 4th and 5th grade Lego Club dates are:
- March 7
- April 4
- April 11
- April 18
Lego Club is an extracurricular activity run by the Richards PTO. The club is open to students in grades K5 through 5th grade. Lego Club meets on Wednesday afternoons from 3:20 to 4:15 in Room 5. Students will be dismissed from their classrooms to Lego Club. Unless prior arrangements are made, parents are expected to pick their child up from Lego Club at 4:15.

Box Tops for Education - Deadline Approaching!
A special classroom box tops collection is happening right now and will be running through February, so keep clipping and turning in all your box tops! Please add your teacher's name to your sheet or bag so that they will be included in your classroom total. The room turning in the most box tops will earn a special treat! Box tops to be included in this collection must be turned in by Monday, February 26th.
Box Tops for Education earns $$$ for our classrooms, so let's have some fun while we earn! Happy clipping!
Richards Night at the Admirals Game: Get Your Tickets!
Richards School will host its 11th annual Night with the Admirals - March 2, 2018 at 7pm. Join families and friends to watch the Admirals beat the Rockford Ice Hogs! Cheer on K4 teacher Kelly Kubicki as she represents Richards as the Human Hockey Puck!
To order tickets for the game, visit richardspto.org and fill out the order form. Please send cash or check made out to Richards School PTO to school by MONDAY, FEBRUARY 26, 2018. Coding Club for 4th & 5th Grade Students
The WFBHS Girls Coding Club volunteers and the Richards PTO invite the 4th & 5th graders to join an after school coding club. Participants will learn to program using SCRATCH. During the three week course, students will get to design and create programs, collaborate with peers, and engage in activities to share feedback with one another. Students can design their own Sprites and then write the code to set them in motion. Come join the fun! Coding Club will meet Wednesday March 7th, 14th, and 21st from 3:30-4:30pm in Computer Lab 209. The club is open to all Richards 4th & 5th grade students. To sign-up, please visit richardspto.org to fill out the on-line form. The deadline to sign-up is Friday, March 2nd. Participation is limited to 28 students to ensure all participants have access to a computer. Grow Your Classroom Library Book Drive!
Mark your calendars for the annual book drive to benefit the classroom libraries at Richards. This year, the 'Grow Your Classroom Library' book drive will include an event that will take place at Boswell Book Company on Downer Avenue on Sunday, March 18th from 2:00-6:00 p.m. More details about the book drive and teacher book wish lists will be available soon!
