Elementary Changes Beginning 2018-2019
The elementary grading and reporting periods will be changing from trimesters to quarters beginning with the 2018-2019 school year. This change was a recommendation of the District’s Calendar Committee to align our K-12 system’s grading and reporting policy and practices.
For quarters one (1) and three (3), your child’s progress will be reported at parent-teacher conferences. No report card will be created or made available in Skyward Family Access. Our expectation is that ALL families will schedule a time with the classroom teacher during fall conferences (October 24-25, 2018)), with an opportunity for families or teachers to request a conference time during the spring conferences (March 7, 2019) based on student progress. For quarters two (2) and four (4), there will be a report card available for each student. This marks the end of the first semester of the school year, and end of the school year. These two report cards will become part of the cumulative record for your child.

Understanding the New Report Card
The report card is designed to communicate progress on overall standards in each content area in Junior Kindergarten through Grade 5, and in the ENCORE (art, music, physical education) areas in Grades 1-5 to families and students. To help families understand the new report card layout, as well as the academic performance level and successful learning indicators, the District created the following Report Card Guide. There are many staff members within your child's elementary school who would be happy to answer any additional questions you may have regarding the new report card. The classroom teacher is the best place to start as well as the Instructional Resource Teacher (IRC) in each elementary building.
