Scholastic Book Fair
- When: October 16, 8am-3pm, 5pm-8pm AND October 17, 8am-7pm
- Where: Richards Gym
This year there are a few changes to the book fair. We are now required to charge sales tax. So please be aware that a $9.99 book will now cost $10.54. Please explain this to your children if you give them money to spend.
New this year, you can avoid sending in cash and instead set up an Ewallet for your child. You can put a predetermined amount on your credit card. You can either print out the Ewallet form and send it with your child or we can look it up when they come with their class. Any amount within the limit that they spend will be charged to your credit card. Any money left over, simply won’t get charged. You MUST set up ewallet before your child attends the book fair. To do so, click on the following link and click get started. It is SUPER easy to do!

Teacher wish books will be available for families to buy for the classrooms. Last year families donated over 200 books back to the classrooms! Thank you in advance for your generosity!
First LEGO League, Jr. Registration Now Open - Grades 2-4: FIRST® LEGO® League Jr. focuses on building interest in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) through a real-world challenge – to be solved by research, critical thinking, teamwork and imagination! Guided by adult volunteer coaches, students build models using LEGO® Education WeDo 2.0, and create Show Me posters to present what they learned.
Teams will meet for approximately ten weeks beginning in December, culminating in a FIRST® LEGO® LEAGUE Jr. expo in March. Participation is open to Richards students in grades 2-4. To register your child, please fill out the form on the PTO website by October 31st.
The PTO subsidizes the cost of the build kits but there will be an additional participation fee of approximately $50 per student participant. This includes all build materials and a team t-shirt to be worn during the expo in March. More information about the participation fee and how to pay will be sent out after the teams are finalized. If the participation fee precludes your child from participating, scholarships are available. Please contact Stephanie Haupt in the Richards main office for more information: (414) 963-3951.
Spaces are limited and preference will be given to children whose parents are interested in coaching a team. Please consider coaching a team! There is a space on the form for parents to sign up to coach. Parent coaches don’t need any engineering, design, or STEM experience. Questions about Richards FIRST® LEGO® League Jr? Ask Mariya at mariya.lazebnik@gmail.com.
Box Tops Due October 25th: The Box Tops for Education program is changing the way we can earn cash for our school! Over the summer, participating brands have begun to change their packaging from the traditional Box Tops clip to the new Box Tops label. Going forward, instead of clipping from packages and checking expiration dates, all Box Tops will be earned digitally by scanning your receipt. The Box Tops for Education team has worked hard to build a NEW-and-improved, user-friendly Box Tops mobile app, available now. The new app features state-of-the-art technology that allows you to scan your store receipt, find participating products and instantly add Box Tops to our school's earnings online. Visit BTFE.com to see how to download the app!
If you still have traditional Box Tops clips at home, make sure to send them to school. We will still earn cash for all clipped Box Tops until they expire. Better yet, you can “double dip” during the packaging transition by clipping traditional Box Tops AND scanning your store receipt containing participating products.
