Messages from Dr. Kasmarick
Each year, our district surveys families to gain feedback on many aspects of our schools. We value this feedback so greatly, and use it for both short-term and long-term planning. If you have children at multiple schools in Whitefish Bay, you are welcome to take it more than once. Thank you in advance for your time!

Our June School Meeting provides us a time to show appreciation for our many wonderful volunteers. So many of you volunteer to help our school in a variety of ways - through PTO committees and in your children's classroom. Please consider attending this meeting, Friday, June 9th from 9:25 - 10:15, as a guest. THANK YOU for all that you do - your work not only benefits our school but sets a fabulous example of giving back for our students!!

Dr. Mazius Informational Session
Friday, May 5 from 8:15-9:15am in the Richards Great Hall
Fostering Optimism in Children: The How Tos When Parenting
Our children, when young, (and during adolescence) develop a theory for explaining their successes, disappointments and failures. This thinking can crystallize early on in one’s life. Clearly, optimism puts kids on the best path as their lives unfold. We parents, play a key role in this process. Child Psychologist, Dr. Michael Mazius, will describe the ways in which we exert influence over our kids’ thinking style and the impact this has on their academic outcomes, problem solving in general and overall mental health. Please come to listen and share in this important discussion on child rearing.

Staff Appreciation
Each year there is one week we celebrate our Richards teachers and staff and show them how much we appreciate all they do for our children. This year, Teacher Appreciation Week will be next week, May 1-5 and the Richards PTO has exciting plans! Each day, the PTO plans a special activity, including breakfast, a catered lunch, gifts and sweet treats. Everyone gets excited for the daily raffle as well, and this is where we can use your help! Please check out the below flyer for additional information on how you can help. Also, if your child has not done so already, have them fill out the grade appropriate sheet that was sent home a few weeks ago in your child's folder. These sheets should be received by tomorrow, Friday, April, 28th at the latest. If you misplaced this sheet, see the below attached flyers or visit the PTO website for a copy.
