Six Flags® Read to Succeed
The Richards PTO is excited to announce that all Richards students are invited to participate in the optional Six Flags® Read to Succeed Six Hour Reading Club!
- Read to Succeed is a free program sponsored by Six Flags Theme Parks that encourages elementary school aged students to read for fun.
- Every student who completes six hours of recreational reading before the school’s deadline (January 31, 2018 ) is eligible for a free admission ticket, valid at Six Flags Great America Theme Park in Gurnee, IL.
Don't forget to have your child keep track of their reading time on their log! If you did not receive or misplaced your reading log or would like more information, visit the PTO website or see the links below.
Special Disbursement Requests 2017-2018
The deadline for Special Disbursement requests is Wednesday, January 31st. What's a Special Disbursement request? It's a way for parents, teachers, staff, anyone at Richards, to request funding from the PTO.
Do you have an idea that would enhance the learning environment of Richards School? If so, Submit a Special Disbursement Request. Richards PTO sets aside money in its budget each year to fund unique items or projects which would benefit Richards School and/or it's students. To learn more about the process, and to submit a request, visit the PTO website at www.richardspto.org.

Box Tops
The PTO received a check in the amount of $782.30 for box tops collected so far this year. Thank you to everyone who has clipped and helped submit box tops!
A special classroom box tops collection will be running through February, so keep clipping and turning in all your box tops! Please add your teacher's name to your sheet or bag so that they will be included in your classroom total. The room turning in the most box tops will earn a special treat! Box tops to be included in this collection must be turned in by Monday, February 26th.
Box Tops for Education earns $$$ for our classrooms, so let's have some fun while we earn! Students received a new collection sheet last week in their Thursday folder. Happy clipping!
5th grade Theater
Are you a parent of a 5th grader or a theater-loving parent at Richards? If so, we are looking for volunteers to help with the 5th grade theater this year. At the end of the school year, the 5th graders will put on 3-4 plays for an evening of entertainment but we will need parents to help direct and assist. No experience necessary. The time commitment is meeting at lunch 2-3 times/ week from the end of January - May. This is a super fun event for the 5th graders and their families as well as all the students at Richards. Let's make this last year at Richards for our 5th graders the absolute best!
