Messages from Dr. Kasmarick
We had a wonderful visit from children's author Lisa Moser yesterday. She led writer's workshop sessions with all classes in grades 3-5, then led an all school presentation for all classes. Her messages honored ALL of us as writers and she offered valuable glimpses into her writing process. She shared how she gets ideas for books (ex: putting electronics away and daydreaming, especially outside), the importance of revision (she gave many examples of significant revisions that were needed before books were published), the power of feedback (she shared photos of her writers' group) and the need for perseverance (her estimate is that her work is rejected by her Editor seven times out of every ten). Many thanks to our PTO Cultural Arts Committee for making this experience possible!

Fostering Resilience In Our Children: April 1st Presentation
Our hope as parents is that our children are healthy, strong and happy. We know that resilience, or the capacity to bounce back quickly from adversity, is key for fostering mental health. Our School Counselor, Jared Daigle, and Whitefish Bay Psychologist, Michael Mazius, will discuss practical ways in which we can develop this essential skill in our children. They’ll highlight important and interesting evidence-based techniques, such as building a constructive self-narrative. Please join them after morning drop off on Wednesday, April 1 from 8:15-9:15am in the Richards Great Hall for an hour of important information and discussion.
