Student Council’s 50s day was fun for all! We are grateful for them keeping our ‘Spirits’ up! Even the front office was in the swing.

Lost and Found: These items will be on tables in the main lobby during conferences.

Conferences and Spring Break: This is a reminder that Spring Break for students starts tomorrow. Students return to school on Monday, April 3rd. Optional conferences are tomorrow, March 23rd. Email your child’s teacher if you do not remember the time you signed up for, or if you took a virtual conference and have not gotten the Zoom link.

Wisconsin Forward Exam: Students in grades 3-5 will be participating in the Wisconsin Forward Exam testing in April. More detailed information can be found in this brochure. All testing will take place in the morning. Your help in not making appointments on these dates is much appreciated! Please ensure that all fifth graders come to school with their fully charged chrome book.  We also encourage a great night of sleep every night and breakfast in the morning for all of our students to help support their energy and best thinking.

Cumberland News and Notes:

Orchestra Concert Dates Announced: Save the Date - On Tuesday, April 18, combined CU and RI students Grades 4 at 6:00pm and combined CU and RI students Grades 5 students at 7:00pm. The concert will take place at the Cumberland School in the Great Room.

Optional Placement Information for 2023-24: You are also invited to provide student specific information for our use in creating balanced classes for the fall. Please use this link to complete the Optional Placement Information Form: We want to have the most accurate enrollment numbers possible for planning. Please call or email the office (414.963.3943 or John.levek@wfbschools.com) if your child[ren] will not be returning to Cumberland in the fall, or if you have an incoming 4-year old who is not yet enrolled. Tell your neighbors to give us a call if they have someone who will be 4 by September 1st.

2023-24 School Year New Student Enrollment: New student enrollment for all grades for the 2023-24 school year is open.  New student online enrollment information can be found in this link.  It is not necessary for current students to re-enroll; families will complete online registration in August for the upcoming school year. If for any reason, your student will not be returning to Cumberland next year, please contact our office at (414)-963-3943.

All School Read: Many thanks to Cumberland School Librarian Valerie Mallmann for selecting our wonderful book - Wishtree by Katherine Applegate, and also for providing such an engaging website for our All School Read.  https://sites.google.com/wfbschools.com/cu-wishtree/home or scan the QR code.

Cumberland's Wishtree: It's almost Spring and our Cumberland Wishtree is waiting for its leaves! Don’t forget to add your special wish. Help us fill our Cumberland Wish Tree, now "growing" in the Great Room! You will find a leaf in your family's copy of the Wishtree. Please write down your family's wish, and send it to school to give to your teacher. If you would like to add more wishes, extra leaves will be available in both the vestibule at Door 1. Watch our tree sprout as wishes are added!

Book Drive: Thanks to everyone for donating books in our Book Drive with Next Door Foundation! We're still counting how many books were provided, and we are thrilled to support children in Milwaukee with the gift of reading. Cumberland PTO is also sending a $500 donation so the Next Door Foundation can provide even more books to those who need them in our community.

Cumberland Lego Club SIGN-UP are open:  Cumberland Lego Club, Grades: K5, 1st, 2nd is now open. The Lego Club will meet 3-4pm on Thursday, April 13, 20, 27 and May 4.  Sessions will be led and supervised by parent volunteers. Students will meet near Door 1 / Office right after school.  Parent/Guardian can pick-up their students at Door 1.  Capacity is limited!  For questions or to be a parent volunteer for Grades 3, 4,  and 5, please email cumberlandlegoclub@gmail.com.

Compositing for the Month of April: We are excited to be celebrating Earth Day ALL month long during lunchtime with Composting! The kids have done such an amazing job so far this year at fun lunch composting...so we are going to try composting for the entire month of April!

District News and Notifications:

From the Bay Ball - Tickets to Bay Ball 2023 are sold out! Thank you so much for the tremendous support of this event. We're looking forward to celebrating with all of you on April 15th!

Run the Bay: REGISTRATION IS OPEN! From the Whitefish Bay Public Education Foundation, the foundation's main event to fund innovation in the WFB Schools will be held on Saturday, May 6th at Klode Park! You can register for the run HERE! Visit us on Facebook for more information on the run along with the other Bay Day activities. Please email educatethebay@gmail.com for sponsorship opportunities.

School Board Meeting: Next Wednesday, April 5, 2023, 7:00 pm, at the WFBHS Library Media Center.   The community is welcome to attend.  School Board meetings to gain a better understanding of School District business and the role of the School Board.  The public is also invited to address the Board during the public comment portion as indicated in Board meetings. Meeting agendas are posted within BoardDocs two days preceding each meeting. Meeting Dates and Agendas located under the Featured tab.

Recreation Department:

Bike Rodeo: On Saturday, April 22, a collaborative Bike Rodeo event with the WFB Police, NSHD and WFB Rec and Community Ed, starts at 11:00 am.

Summer 2023 Program Guide: Whitefish Bay School District's Recreation and Community Education Summer 2023 Program Guide, in Whitefish Bay, we provided a wide variety of summer offerings for youth and adults.
