“You’ve been BOO’ED!" Tomorrow, Friday, October 22nd is the last day to order your Boo Bags! A long-standing tradition in Whitefish Bay, a Halloween Boo is a little gift or treat left anonymously by a friend or neighbor. Once you’ve been Boo’ed, you hang a picture on your front door to let everyone know that you’ve gotten your Halloween surprise. Let the Richards PTO make your Boo Bags for you! Richards PTO is selling Boo Bags for $5 each and will be available for pick up in the Richards vestibule. Online ordering available through Membership Toolkit now!
Picture Retake Day: Did your child's photo not turn out exactly like you had hoped? The good news is that our photographer can retake the picture! Retake Day will be held on Thursday, November 4th from 3:15 pm - 5:00 pm in Room 10. Students should be accompanied by an adult. Our photographer will also be taking first time photos for those students who missed Picture Day in September. No appointment is needed. Any other questions? Please email Allison at richards.yearbook@gmail.com.
Lego Club is Back! Calling all Lego Makers! We are thrilled to share that Lego Club will be returning to Richards this fall to continue our much-loved program in-person again. Lego Club is a free extracurricular activity run by the Richards PTO, and is open to all students in grades K5 through 5th grade. Starting with our K5 group in November, each grade will get a chance to spend a few weeks imagining, creating, and building! We will meet Monday afternoons from 3:05 to 4:05 this year, with students being dismissed directly from their classrooms. Please note Lego Club will follow Whitefish Bay School District Covid-19 protocols for masking and distancing to ensure a safe environment for all. Dates and grade/session schedule will be shared soon (session durations may vary from 3-4 weeks due to the district calendar), along with our first sign-ups for students and parent volunteers for our K5 group. Lego Club will give kids the opportunity to build friendships, play creatively, and have fun with their peers, so look for more information in an upcoming Thursday Folder!
First Lego League: This year’s FIRST LEGO League Explore challenge is called Cargo Connect. Children will learn about how cargo is transported, sorted, and delivered to its destinations. Teams will meet for approximately ten weeks beginning in mid-December, with a possible First Lego League Explore expo in March. Team meeting times will be set after registration, based on the availability of students and coaches. Cost is approximately $25/student but can fluctuate based on participation. Participation is open to Richards students in grades 2-4. If the cost of participation presents any financial hardship for your family, please reach out to Stephanie in the Richards office. Coaches are needed! Space is limited, and preference will be given to students with parent coaches. No experience or STEM background needed. Sign up information coming soon! Questions? Ask Mariya at mariya.lazebnik@gmail.com
