From the PTO
Hunger Task Force Food Drive and Family Dinner: Over the last twenty years, Richards has donated over $32,000 and 85,000 pounds of food to the Hunger Task Force! The core values of the Hunger Task Force are justice, compassion, stewardship and dignity. Let's help the Hunger Task Force in their mission to end hunger in our community and state.
Hunger Task Force Food Drive Started February 19th! The PTO is sponsoring a food drive from February 19th-March 18th. Please consider donating low fat boxed milk; canned vegetables that are low in sodium; canned fruits packed in their own juice and 100% fruit juices; and whole grain cereals and pastas. The class that collects the most food donations will earn a trophy and extra recess!
Hunger Task Force Dinner on March 18th! Join the Richards PTO for the Hunger Task Force Dinner Taco Ball on Wednesday, March 18th from 5-7pm at Richards School. Enjoy a taco dinner in the Great Hall and then head over to the gym for dancing and fun. There will be a DJ, glow sticks, and some funky, funky moves. Dessert available for purchase for $1 in the Great Hall, glow sticks and other dance party accessories available for purchase in the gym. All proceeds from the evening benefit the Hunger Task Force of Milwaukee.

Lisa Moser Author Visit and Book Order: The Richards PTO is excited to welcome Wisconsin based children’s book author Lisa Moser (www.lisamoserbooks.com). Lisa will be visiting our students on Wednesday, February 26th! Lisa Moser is the author of ten children's books, including Friendship Yarn, Stories from Bug Garden, and Squirrel's World. She graduated from The University of Iowa and taught fifth grade in Worthington, Ohio. Lisa lives in Grafton with her husband, daughter, and dog named Coach.
Our 3rd-5th grade classes will be participating in a writing workshop focused on creating story ideas with setting, character & story problems in small groups with Lisa Moser during the school day. The entire school will participate in an assembly with Lisa where she will share how an author can bring “heart” to a story. Students will learn how she gets her ideas, how she approaches writing, rewriting and editing, and how she molds her ideas into a story. After her presentation, students will have a 15 Minute Q&A. We are so excited to have Lisa spend the day with our students and share her love and expertise of writing with them.
You can also order a signed copy of her books. A paper book order form went home in today’s Thursday folder or you can find one on the PTO website. If you would like to order her books, please remit the form with a check written out to the Richards PTO by Friday, February 28th.
