Fun Lunch - tomorrow, Friday, January 18th!
Fun Lunch tomorrow is being catered by CPK. Each participating student will receive a pizza, mac n cheese, or a salad in addition to carrots, apple sauce, a Rice Krispie Treat or Oreos, and bottled water.
Don’t forget, CPK is continuing to generously offer a free meal to Richards students when they dine-in with their family! Students who participate in the Fun Lunch program will receive a free kid’s meal when their family is dining. A raffle ticket will be given to each dining student for a chance to win an embroidered chef coat! Raffle tickets will be randomly selected and chef coats will be presented at Fun Lunch. Students that wear their chef coat to CPK will be allowed to make their own pizza! Please note: Only students dining with their families will be discounted and an adult entrée must be purchased for every kid’s meal. This offer is not valid with any other offers or discounts (including CPK Rewards Program), and is not valid to groups or sports teams.
Please contact Moria Leonhardt (moleonhardt@wi.rr.com) or Amy Mulcahy (amymulcahy13@yahoo.com) with questions, comments or concerns.
Hunger Task Force Dinner/Bingo Night!
Each year, the 3rd grade class collects food and raises money for the Hunger Task Force. This year, the 3rd graders will host a school-wide pasta dinner and bingo night with all proceeds benefiting the Hunger Task Force. It should be a fun event to beat those winter blues! Historically, Richards School gives the largest donation of any elementary school — last year Richards donated over $2,600 — let’s have another successful year supporting the community!
HTF Dinner and Bingo Night is Friday, February 8th in the Great Hall!
- Dinner: 5-6:30pm, Bingo: 6:30-7:30pm. Bake Sale will run throughout the evening
- Families are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to help kick-off the Food Drive
- Unable to attend the dinner, but would still like to contribute? Families can donate Virtual Dinners on the order form to support the Hunger Task Force. Order forms can be found on the link below and additional paper order forms will be sent home again in this week's Thursday Folder. All forms are due by January 25th
HTF Food Drive kicks off at the HTF Dinner and runs through March 1st!
- Families are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to the February 8th HTF Dinner to kick off the Food Drive
- The school-wide Food Drive will continue through March 1st. This begins on February 11th and is a friendly competition to see which classrooms can collect the most food items!
Third Grade student and adult volunteers needed for the HTF Dinner!
- Third Graders have a wonderful opportunity to give back to the community as they take ownership of the HTF Dinner from set-up to clean-up. There are many ways for third graders and their families to get involved and help in the event! Please take a few moments and sign-up, if you're able! If you are unable to attend the HTF Dinner, there is also a need for Bake Sale donations to help the event run smoothly. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!
For any questions, please contact Brenda Napierala (brennapierala@yahoo.com) or MaryKathryn Malaney (marykathryn.malaney@gmail.com). Thank you for your support!
Richards Night at the Admirals Game
Tickets are now on-sale for the Richards Night at the Admirals Game! Join families and friends of Richards School at the Milwaukee Admirals hockey game. They will play the Manitoba Moose, on Friday, February 1, 2019 at 7:00 pm at the UWM Panther Arena (400 W. Kilbourn Ave). Last year, we sold over 400 tickets and a great time was had by all. $4.00 from every ticket sold goes back to the Richards School PTO. If we sell 500 or more tickets, $5 will come back to the school!
Cheer on 4th grade teacher Katie Wilhelm as she soars across the ice as the Human Hockey Puck! Complete the form that previously came home in your child’s Thursday folder and remit with a check made out to “Richards PTO” and return your ticket order to school by Monday, January 28, 2019. Tickets will be distributed in Thursday folders (to the youngest child) the day before the game. Questions? Email Wendy Welsh at wendywelsh100@gmail.com. See you at the game!

Box Top Fun!
It's time for some Box Top fun! Please start marking your child's grade on your Box Top collection sheet or collection bag for a fun classroom contest. We'll be tallying up classroom totals and the winning grade will earn a popsicle party at the end of the year! Please turn in large collections by February 27 for a scheduled submission on March 1st; we will, however, keep total through early May with the ongoing collection for the contest! Box Tops may be turned in with your student's folder or dropped off outside the office in the collection bin. Students can be listening for updates on announcements and watching the tally board outside the office! Let's have some fun while we clip! Questions? Contact Kristen at lafond19@yahoo.com or Lindy at lindy.utley@yahoo.com.
