Dear Parents,
We have been very busy. Here are some things we did.
Reading & Language Arts: This week we finished reading the story Anthony Reynoso: Born to Rope by Martha Cooper and Ginger Gordon. The story is about a boy who performs in rodeo shows with his dad. During this lesson, we discussed the author’s purpose. We learned that an author writes to inform, to entertain or to explain something. Math: The students are practicing using measurement tools to find lengths in standard and metric units. Practice measuring items around the house to the nearest ½ inch and ¼ inch. Social Studies: Next week Mrs. Sindic has started Unit Three in Social Studies. This unit is about the community that we live in. Students will continue to work on several activities and eventually make a map of the committee he or she lives in. This weekend, spend some time looking for interesting landmarks in your own community.
*It was nice to talk to everyone during parent-teacher-conferences. Thank you for your continued support in making your child’s third grade year successful.
Upcoming Events:
Mon., Nov. 12 *Veterans Day School Meeting
Thurs., Nov. 15 *Art Museum field trip- If you would like to be a chaperone, please contact me ASAP.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Matthews
