Dear Parents,
The last weeks have been busy. Here are some things we have done.
Reading: This week we discussed many current events in the non-fiction magazine Time for Kids (TFK). Topics ranged from this summer’s drought to finding water on Mars. TFK is a great source for news and information for kids by kids.
Language Arts: We have continued to work hard on our narrative paragraphs. We spent some time working on creating a “just right” topic sentence. Next week we will continue to write and add exciting words to our paragraph.
Math: The students have been practicing measuring items to the nearest centimeter and ¼ inch. Continue to practice adding and subtracting multi-digit numbers. We will also work on these types of problems in class.
Social Studies: Next week we will start Unit Two in Social Studies. This unit is about the communities that make up the United States. Students will continue to work on several activities and eventually making a committee of their own.
Science: We need our first Science quiz on Wednesday. During the next few weeks we will examine more rocks and minerals.
Enjoy the long weekend!!
