Messages from Dr. Kasmarick
We celebrate two retirees this year. Jeff Widder joined the Whitefish Bay School District in 1991 and has served as a Coordinator of Gifted & Talented and as a Classroom Teacher, most recently in 4th grade. Jeff is positive, passionate, thoughtful, supportive, and a lifelong learner! Lisa Roberts, Library Media Specialist, joined the Whitefish Bay School District in 2001. She is student-centered, collaborative, creative, knowledgeable, and endlessly jazzed about books! Both will be very missed and we wish them the best as they write their next chapters.

Every year brings bittersweet staffing changes. In addition to Jeff and Lisa, we thank Jessica Heyman (3rd), Melissa Poillon (4th), and Madison Zipp (PE), all of whom are moving on to new ventures next year. Brandon Dillner (Counselor) will transition to the WFBMS (Jared Daigle will serve Richards full time). Their contributions to Richards have been so very positive and we wish them all the best!
As you learned last week, Justin Nies, our shared Associate Principal, will transition to a Principal role in the Kettle Moraine School District. We are sad to see him go but know that he is ready for this next step. We are excited to welcome Katie Petersen as a full time Associate Principal at Richards! Please see the press release below.

District Device and Headphone Return: District-owned device return began this past Tuesday and many devices have come in. Thank you! All families that borrowed a district device this year are asked to return both the device and charging cord, in a bag and labeled with student name, as soon as possible and no later than June 11. Virtual students should plan to return devices on the afternoon of June 11. Student headphones should be returned to your child’s classroom teacher. Headphones are collected at the end of each year in preparation for the next school year, following your child into his/her new classroom. Students who do not return their headphones will be required to purchase a new pair (available in the office) in the fall.

Enrollment & Registration for the 2021-2022 School Year
- Students who are currently enrolled at Richards do not need to re-enroll for the upcoming year, however each family participates in the annual online registration process in August. More information regarding August registration will be forthcoming.
- If, for any reason, your student(s) will not be returning to Richards for the 2021-22 school year, please contact the office at 414-963-3951 as soon as possible.
- If you know of any students who are eligible for 4-year old kindergarten (4 years old by September 1 and residing in our attendance area), please encourage them to contact us if they haven't already.
- 5K-5th grade new student enrollment is also in progress. Visit our website for enrollment forms or contact the office at 414-963-3951.
The 2021-2022 calendar is available in this link. You'll note that it includes Roaring Start days on September 1st-3rd for students in 4K-5th and an additional Roaring Start day on September 8th for students in 4K. On these days, students will only attend for individual meetings and assessments with their teacher. Roaring Start days were very valuable this past fall to build rapport individually and gather information to guide instruction quickly and without the use of substitutes.

District Announcements
COVID-19 Data Metric Dashboard: In an effort of transparency and communication with our staff and families, the District has created a COVID-19 data metric dashboard and weekly District update letter. Each week the District will publish a status update of active cases and those in quarantine due to exposure or presentation of COVID-19 like symptoms. Please note that information relative to any individual’s health is HIPPA protected and private, so we are taking steps to secure the anonymity of individuals. Student numbers will be published at a school level and for the district as a whole. In any school in which the number is <5 we will post an ** to avoid the likelihood of exposing the identity of an individual. We will provide a summary number for the district as a whole.
The dashboard on the COVID-19 website page and the Weekly Metrics Reports show the current week's data. All letters will be located on the Communications to Families page. It is our goal to update the dashboard and letter at the beginning of each week.
School Board Meeting: June 9, 2021: The community is welcome to view School Board meetings to gain a better understanding of School District business and the role of the School Board. The public is also invited to address the Board during the public comment portion as indicated in Board meetings. Meeting agendas are posted within BoardDocs two days preceding each meeting.
