The Buildings & Grounds Department is responsible for maintaining the district’s buildings and grounds in a condition of operating excellence, so that full educational use may be made of them at all times. Our team of 30 employees is committed to providing all students and staff with a physical learning environment that is safe, clean, and well maintained. We are very proud of our facilities and the efforts our B&G staff make in supporting the District's pursuit of providing an exceptional place to learn.
Whitefish Bay High School, Whitefish Bay Middle School, Richards Elementary, Cumberland Elementary, and Lydell Community Center, consist of 660,000 square feet of building floor space and nearly 40 acres of grounds. Maintenance of these facilities and grounds include general cleaning, summer and winter site cleaning/maintenance, summer and winter grounds maintenance, material handling and transport, program and equipment setup, repair to structures and operational systems, safety and security oversight, painting, carpentry, plumbing, grounds keeping, predictive/preventive/corrective maintenance, and numerous other functions.
The Department provides additional focus on long-range planning, energy management, and community use of school facilities. Capital improvements are prioritized annually and recommended to the Business Office. Our Energy Management program has reduced our energy usage by 25%. We also support thousands of hours annually, of co-curricular and community use of District facilities.
Compliance with Wisconsin State regulations include: AHERA, confined space entry, lockout/tagout, personal protective equipment, blood borne pathogens, integrated pest management, indoor environmental quality and hazardous waste management.
